The TUXEDO System: An Open On-line Transaction Processing Environment

چکیده
This paper briefly summarizes some recent IBM work in the areas of distributed commit protocols, andrecoverable messaging and queuing. We discuss the original presumed nothing commit protocol of SNALU 6.2 and the current industry standard presumed abort (PA) protocol which we originally developedin IBM’s R* project. We also discuss generalized presumed abort (GPA) which resulted from the inte-gration of PA into LU 6.2. GPA has been implemented in DB2 V3. We provide a brief introduction tothe Message Queue Interface (MQI), an architected application programming interface, and MessageQueue Manager (MQM) MVS/ESA, one of the IBM MQSeries products that implements MQI. Some in-ternal design features of MQM are also described.

Portability of STDL on Top of the TUXEDO Transaction Monitor
The Structured Transaction Definition Language (STDL) is a language based programming interface to transactional protocols and runtime systems, designed to resolve the industry problem of incompatible Transaction Processing (TP) monitor programming interfaces. STDL defines a three-group model, in which application procedures are grouped according to the type of work they perform: presentation, ...
متن کاملCaprera: An Activity Framework for Transaction Processing on Wide-Area Networks
Caprera is an open framework for designing client/server applications that operate over a wide-area network. The activity model of Caprera used to extend transaction processing and transaction-oriented application in an open environment including mobile and remote clients connected by wireless, phone lines, or Internet is described here. Since Caprera enables off-line users on mobile platforms ...

متن کاملDBT-5: An Open-Source TPC-E Implementation for Global Performance Measurement of Computer Systems
TPC-E is the new benchmark approved by the TPC council. It is designed to exercise a brokerage firm workload, which is representative of current On-Line Transaction Processing workloads. In this paper we present DBT-5, a fair usage open-source implementation of the TPC-E benchmark. In addition to reporting about the design and implementation of the tool, experimental results from a system runni...
متن کاملCICS open transaction environment and other TCB performance considerations
With the introduction of the CICS Open Transaction Environment (OTE) architecture introduced with CICS Transaction Server 1.3, we now have much more flexibility for CICS to exploit more CPU engines without the need to split a single region into multiple regions, with the added benefit of reducing CPU consumed per transaction. The implementation of this architecture is fairly simple, but imprope...
